So me and by gf just visited some friends of ours who got engaged and the rock the woman got was absolutely amazing. I had actually been looking for an engagement ring last spring (but had to call it off a while but its definitely happening really soon now) and I had looked at allot of diamonds at some big stores but I don't remember them looking anything like this. The way it lit up like fire under the lights in the restaurant we were in was absolutely unreal.

Thing is, they bought it online and I dont know if I want to do that. I guess the obvious upside is that its allot less inexpensive (like thousands of dollars) and you can put more of your original budget into getting much more than you would at a storefront. I just don't know if I want to make such a huge purchase online

Ive been researching places to buy GIA triple excellent diamonds reviews all seem really good as well. One place in particular is "whiteflash" and another is Blue Nile. The first place gets really good reviews, blue nile slightly less.... What do you all think of this? Any experience buying high end diamonds like this online? Would you recommend anywhere?

If you search engagement rings on the forum you will find several very helpful threads, one being "How much did you pay for your wives engagement ring" it's worth reading. People here praise Blue Nile, I found a semi local jeweler who has a team of CAD engineers that can build any ring, i plan on buying a diamond for Blue Nile and having it used in a custom ring. Hope this helps !!!
