I think black would be better than navy. But I think a dark green would be even better together with the 'brown/earthy' theme.

If I don't get on board this MTO in time I might pick up one of the pairs that is reserved for Richard :)

Dark green lining sounds cool but honestly I don't care that much about the lining color. Navy would work too.

Guys, what is the consensus regarding sizing on the 4497s last? Should we size down one full size from US TTS? US 9 = UK 8?

no. this is not correct for all cases.

there are many people who drop down a full size on the 4497s. and and full 1.5 sizes on the 4444. I'm a TTS US 11D for instance, and I wear a UK 10 on the 4497s and a UK 9.5 on the 4444.

for clarification, see my post here:

I emailed Tricker's about this issue and this is what they had to say:

"The 4497 last comes up true to size and we would suggest that you stick to a 6 1/2, if you normally wear a 6 1/2. If you have anything made on the 4444 last then go for a size 6."

heterophilous I do agree that this may not be correct in all cases, but it appears to be the most common response to the sizing question of the 4444 last. However I can only reference the 4497 last in my personal experience and to be honest I do get tempted to order a full size down since the 4497 does feels more roomier than expected.
