Honestly is it that hard to imagine a pair of shoes with a pair of trousers or jeans?

You could try my post - thread: "Shoes with Character". I uploaded a couple of photos; pic of me wearing them. Might help. You might soon be a member the small circle of "Grasmere" owners! There's also a thread, "Tricker's Grassmere - last shape". Basically, they are like old style British Army ammunition boots or oxblood DM's. Good for walking, casual, not formal - well not really.

I have the grasmere, which I use for walking boots (mountains etc.)

The last is very wide and chunky.

Looks like yours are holding up very well. I notice you've got that scuff on the side of the upper in the same place as mine. I tend to use Chelsea Leather Food to ensure that the leather is 'fed' properly and a Lobb cream (dark brown) to cover the scuff. I've used this across the whole boot, so it is now a rich burgundy. Photos on the threads mentioned. By the way, I tried the CLF on a heavy duty French Army Pack. Canvas, internally leather lined, about the thickness of the boot. Went right through, soaked into the canvas. Good stuff that - proves it does the job! The pack is for fishing, so it doesn't matter. However, w'ld have to be careful with colonials - two tone, canvas and leather - shoes. I would be interested to see the progress of the boots - I'm hoping the pebble grain on mine softens down to a nice smooth patina. The pebble grain is, after all, fairly soft (though the leather is very thick and strong). The tongue (wish it were bellows) has developed a lovely patina due to the pressure of the laces. My Born Again Christain acquaintance has a pair that are several years old - leather is dark and smooth. They obviously age well. I use mine for walking - footpaths and so forth. Out in the rough, last shape means very little indeed.
