Basic Q: I just got an awesome slim herringbone trench, it's the first trench coat I've owned and I'm not sure what to do with the belt when wearing it untied. There are two loops in the back, but just running it through the loops once has it hanging down too low and it looks sloppy. Is there a special way to tuck the belt in the loops? Thanks for the much needed help (you dandy bastards).

i normally just kinda loosely tie the belt together at the back, not too tight or it'll pull on the coat too much.

I too fasten the buckle tying the belt round the back of the coat.

I have a trench coat question though, what hat to wear? I tend to wear my trench in the rain, but don't have a hat that looks good with it, leaving me with a wet head and defeating the purpose of the coat. I'm terrible for losing umbrellas so that's an expensive option.

Yeah, just tie it off in the back. But not in a bow.

I believe a fur felt fedora is traditional and still works today.

They were out of public masturbator trenches, so I had to buy a stylish one.

So what does everyone wear under a trench, besides the typical button up shirt and tie. Is a cardigan+Oxford acceptable? Give me some ideas as I dont want to freeze ****** off wearing this coat I just bought.

I actually thought this was in the streetwear forum. Perhaps I can have a mod move it there?

Obviously, the best thing to wear under a trench coat is your birthday suit.
