Trench coat for a young guy?

I've recently gotten to try out some old burberrys' trench coats, and I absolutely love the fit and feel of those things. Thing is, I'm 17 years old and I do believe it's kinda weird for someone my age to wear them. I do usually make a point of it to dress sharp, and hardly ever care about what people think. (I might also invest in some casual looking dress shoes some time soon, as some of my friends are actually starting to wear dress shoes too)

So really my question is what do you guys think? Could you comfortably pull this off, or would it be too strange?

Don't know enough about you to know if you could "pull it off". For what it's worth, I bought my first Burberry at eighteen. So I say go for it. It's all about wearing whatever you're wearing with confidence.

Burberry trench coat is so easy to dress down, it is amazing. So I do not think you will look out of place at your age. I wish my older son (15) would ever consider wearing something like that, I would gladly give him mine.

I am assuming it's cut above knees. What color are you thinking? For a guy your age even black wouldn't be bad, although I'll probably be burned for this on SF :)

Never worry about your age when dressing (except of course when you need to consider pleats and such), I've been wearing oxfords since 14. Think Manny from modern family but much skinnier, lol

I do have a friend, 16 who wears trench coats, I'd say as long as the occasion fits the function and the coat itself hugs you well you should be fine, do prepare to get some notices though.

Beige related colors don't suit me very well, so I was thinking about olive, grey or maybe navy.
I'm not too keen on the longer ones, so definitely above the knee.

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it

Definitely Grey or Navy then, Grey is in my opinion the most versatile of trench coats other than beige and fits well with most colours. You can get Navy or even black later to play around with the wardrobe a bit or if you get a suit of a particular colour and wants to colour coordinate a bit better.

Hmmmm. Keep in mind that trench coat has kind of military (uniform) tradition. I never tried these options, but I suspect navy and olive might look too uniform like, police or well navy (navy) or army (olive) :)

Yeah I definitely thought about that too, grey would be my first choice.

The way you described how you're styling it...I'd say no. I wore one in junior high with a knit cap, jeans and a sweat shirt all the time but I also had a flask of bourbon and a pack of winstons in there.
Christ that sounds terrifying... that's like one of those photos you look at and be like,' wtf was I thinking.'

He is 17. How else? Depending on where he lives, might be illegal, but when I was growing up (east Europe), it was perfectly normal to drink and smoke at that age :)

Erm yeah its a youthful and stylish fashion brand, you can wear one no problem.
