I'm looking for some really good travel (flight) pants. I had a great pair of cotton/nylon Theory pants, but they're looking kind of tired out and I want something I wouldn't mind wearing once I arrive at my destination (Barcelona and London) for walking around (no sense in having a pair of pants good only for the flight). It's about 9:30 in the air LAX-LHR, and obviously overnight. I really don't think jeans will be all that comfortable to sleep in, though that's likely all I'll be wearing on the ground (not going to be dressing up at all). And I wouldn't mind something with at least one zip or button pocket that's not the back pocket, maybe even a zip pocket or two on the side (no bulky cargo pockets). Any suggestions people have on stuff that's worked well for long, overnight flights would be great.

During another period of my life when I had to travel alot and trans-continental I was carrying a jumper suit with me, changed in the lavatory, put my suit in a light garment bag, slept, go back, changed, put every thing back in the pilot case, looked sharp at the arrival.

I've just worn jeans on flights to/from Asia (one was even a new pair of raw denim). Honestly, once I sat down and eventually nodded off, it didn't really matter what I had on. But I could certainly see how jeans might be uncomfortable for some.

I actually like that flusser outfit more and more.

Have been doing some thinking about flight pants as well and was wandering through the archives.

Normally, I go with North Face's Paramount convertible pant:

but they're very casual.

Saw these form JL Powell:

And am looking for something with similar carrying capacity but more polished. Most of my needs are tied to electronics and tickets. The pants will almost certainly be bespoke, so am looking for sources of inspiration more than anything.

On this note, I really like a thick linen for travel pants.

If I want to travel in a suit, and I'm flying coach (yes, I'm a pleb), will flight attendants let me hang the jacket anywhere? What are some of your experiences with the airlines?

Depends on the flight and time of year and my seat. For some reason my calves get frozen on long flights (18hrs) and when I sit next to a window of small puddle jumpers. My favorite pair of pants are just an old pair of heavy flannel Oxxford pants that have a long rise and deep pockets and that I had a tailor make the waist band pocket bigger so I can keep money in them. They look ok, but they are comfortable and since they are old , I don't lose any sleep if they get some dirt on them.

Also, keep several pairs of thin to thick socks.

I do this now if I'm flying direct to a meeting, but phone faceplates easily scratch and there is the danger of everything falling out when you reach in for one item. My difficulty isn't the need for additional pocket space so much as need for separate pockets.

For me, having to dig around in my pants pockets is a bug, not a feature.

As fall and winter come, my jacket pockets will let me keep everything separate, but even that is still a pain.
