Is there any process of reccomending new smilies. I really miss a couple from an old forum i used to visit. Especially the naughty eyebrow guy. I found myself needing it in a recent post to accurate express my e-feelings.

Someone just posted an Ebay auction of a_distinguished_gentleman in the B & S forum (it wasn't me). For a pair of Alligator shoes.

He was the guy that sold "The Priceless Lobb Boots", of course.

I noticed that he doesn't post here anymore but is over at AAAC.

    Was he banned here?

He used to be quite complimentary of J, but he's now really down on SF.

Yes, he was banned here. No more discussion of him please and no more posting of his auctions, ever.

Regarding the Bush = Hitler thread in C/E, it is gone and I am wondering why it was deleted. I found it offensive, and I have a very low tolerance for pain in this area, but didn't really cross the line like some others do, in my opinion.

Connemara had asked me why I found it "offensive" to say Hitler was smart and I had wanted to respond. My response is: I don't necessarily deny it; it just offends my sensibilities to say it. "Smart" is a positive adjective, and I'd rather not use a positive adjective to describe a ruthless person. It's not that there aren't enough synonyms that can't be similarly deployed - shrewd, sly, crafty, sharply calculating, sneakily resourceful, extraordinarily deceptive, dishonest, etc.

Anyway, just wondering why it got canned.

Ah, OK. Cool. Thanks for the clarification.

The thread didn't seem particularly offensive.

    Why was it deleted?

Breaking Godwin's Law in the thread title (and yes I know it was from an article, blah blah) pretty much guarantees it's going to be a trolling thread. I may start just deleting random political threads, or any thread that goes over 10 replies in CE or something. Some of the venom in there has been particularly disturbing lately (not this thread specifically), especially from some posters I had thought were reasonable gentlemen and could behave as such.

May be you can just lock them instead of squirreling them away. Some of them are pretty good guilty pleasure.

Surprisingly, the "Happy Bastille Day" thread appears to be the most civil thread in the CE forum. Go figure.

in the lucky man fashion thread, did the original poster actually use an @luckymanfashion.com email to sign up and then spam the board?
