1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Probably because of the comment I made. I apologize for stirring up drama. It was just rather aggrivating to go into the chat for the first time in a long time and the first thing I see is what appears to be people still talking shit about me.

There were only a few members in there, last I saw. Pretty much every attempt to make a chat has ended in failure here. Maybe this just isn't the right crowd, though I'd hope it would be more active with a Java applet for IRC or something.

I checked it out during the move, the chatroom made Devils' Island looked like Angels' Island.

You know what dude, suddenly I can't remember why I stuck up for you before. Seeya.
My inner frat boy just cried, that is if he had tears and crying wasn't a totally chick thing to do. Now where'd I put my Milwaukee's Best and copy of Maxim? Kudos, J.

I did as well. Can't say I was all that impressed with the quality of the discussion going on...

We'll set up a chat when we can get one that requires a valid board login to get on, so people feel accountable and won't just sit and talk smack about each other. The potential for drama is just too high.

Yeah, I agree some accountability with usernames would be useful on the chat, although I think it's a useful tool and will continue to use it because I think real time feedback can be extremely useful. Besides the chaos surrounding the time of the move, generally people are fairly open on the chat IME. I usually idle it when I'm not in meetings etc. which can also help if ppl know where to find people if they want to ask questions or just talk.

Locked a couple threads in the Current Events Forum. We're going to be modding that place a bit more heavy-handedly now, so if you want to keep your discussion going, don't post anything that you think might get the thread closed (refer to the rules).

Seems we have an interesting name-change request from a longtime member. Perhaps he's trying to tell us (or himself) something. [IMG]

Maybe J will change my name to Peaches. I'm getting tired of GQGeek anyway. Besides, I hate that damned magazine.

BTW, Ed and Matt are requested are in that thread.

Ed & Matt are gonna tag-team me on this, but a good friend even calls me peaches.

Apparently the forum is overloading the new server, which caused it to get shut down a couple of times today and yesterday.

I've set the load option in vBulletin down to 1.5 (where it recommends 5) but it still doesn't seem to control it very well. I'll be looking into upgrading to a high-volume server where there will be less people on the same server with us, and if that doesn't work, we'll go to a dedicated server. Hosting the site is going to get exponentially more expensive if this keeps up.
