Was anyone in it today, I had to go all the way across town, from Ealing to Islington via Maida Vale.
Euston Road - the underpass and interchange with A400 Tottenham court road: spent 45 minutes there, and that was at 3PM. I am thankful I was not there at rush hour, not even an accident, or anything- I could not work out what the commotion was about.
Hanger Lane A40/North Circular interchange - No surprises here, 10 AM Perivale junction, 10.30 Park Royal (under 2 miles). Ridiculous or what?
Marylebone Road - 1 HOUR to do just 1 MILE, after Madame Tussards, and before Euston station.
Edgeware Road A5/ Marylebone Road A501 approach - 20 minutes to get from Marylebone Road, onto the Edgeware Road.
That shows us all what Ken's congestion charge does to our city. The tube goes on strike, and it is absolute chaos - and he is worried about people not using enough public transport. I say he is mad.
Moreover, the reason for all this, in my opinion is, people are trying to avoid the congestion charge by using the Marylebone Road, (Runs just north of the zone).
Perhaps I should have considered the route M40 South Eastbound-A312 Ruislip Heathrow Southbound- M4 Great West Road Eastbound-Hammersmith Flyover/Brompton Road/Knightsbridge Eastbound- Constitution Hill- The Mall- Nelson's Column Roundabout- Exit Victoria Embankment- New Bridge Street/ Farringdon Road Northbound (A201) - Right Holburn Viaduct- North Aldersgate/St. Martins (A1).
Nevertheless, for those who know London, that is a major diversion.
Ken, get your act together, either cancel the congestion zone, or make it bigger (the problem with that is people will still try and avoid it, and there will be more traffic on the surrounding roads, as I have seen toady. )
Any opinions or views? How is your city for Traffic, Manhattan is amazing, I can get from Midtown-East to the Financial District in a matter of minutes on the FDR Drive, or THRU STREETS to travel cross-town. London just keeps getting worse.
