Tough ankle boots

I'm after a tough ankle boot, made perhaps in brown cowhide or buffalo leather or similar. A good boot you can wear to death, scuff up, take a shine. Style? Thinking of a derby boot, say Crockett & Jones Coniston. Damn near impossible, unless you go vintage e.g. WWII military 'marching' boots. This is the sort of thing, though shorter.

Imo, shell cordovan boots would be great. I love the ones I have from DWFII and Rider.
