Ooh, I respectfully disagree. I think they rock, in a sort of OTT 1960s way.

I love those kinds of outrageously period-looking eyewear.

Francois Pinton made the original Onassis shades and offers a contemporary version which I love. Really bad for driving, though -- the wide edges of the legs make it impossible to see your blind spot.

They do look cool don't they. I bought a pair very like this about two months ago although the front was more square. They are made by Oliver Goldsmith. They look great and several people have commented including one little cutie who said what incredibly sexy sunglasses. Well I just thought I'd mention it. The point about the deep sides and driving is a fair one although I find it doesn't completely obscure side vision. Just look twice!

I always though these ultra wide sides made him look like he had made a mistake and was wearing sunglasses for a blind person.

Whether it is the width of lapels, ties, the point of shoes, the sides to glasses, etc....it is always better to stay away from the extreme, IMHO.

I'd hardly call Ari's shades extreme and as for the suggestion that they make him look like a blind person. Well what can I say?

I should have read this thread this past weekend...

I was mulling over a sweet pair of Dior Homme and Cole Haan tortoise shell sunglasses at an Off 5th on Saturday. I decided against it seeing as how I already own 5.

Mayyyybe I need to go back.

I picked these up about 3 years ago and they're easily my favorite sunglasses. I never really liked the tortoise shell print before because I considered it a little too stuffy. However, on these ones, the design was modern, and the print just made them look classy. I've completely reversed my opinion on tortoise shell prints since then. I prefer a darker print over light ones though.

The darker prints do look better as a generalisation but it does depend a bit on your coloring. I thnk the darker are more forgiving in that they look good on everyone while the paler shades are only look good on some people.

These are currently my sole pair of sunglasses and I really like them - the combination of a quite modern frame style and the tortoise shell material appeals to me.
