hey there

OK, so I use Transmission on my Mac, trying to set something up on my mother's PC, no idea what to use.

When I last used Windows, I used uTorrent...but that now insists on installing Ask toolbars and all that crap that I hate.

Anyone suggest a torrent client that's lightweight, easy to use, and crap free?

Thanks

Matt

There should be a few check boxes that you can uncheck to get the toolbar to not install.

uTorrent is pretty much the gold standard for lightweight and easy to use. Vuse is bloated these days.

checkboxes will stop it being the default search engine and home page, won't keep the tool bar at bay (and you know what those things are like, they have a way of never really disappearing)

That's odd. I installed uTorrent a few months ago and there are no toolbars or anything like that whatsoever on my version. I'm using 2.0.2

+1 for uTorrent

It really is the best torrent client there. Back when I actually torrented files (or when I couldn't find a nzb I wanted) I would hit up PirateBay + uTorrent.

Have you though of switching to newsgroups? It costs money, but it's lightyears faster and newsgroups tend to have really fast and genuine releases.

No they don't. You must have downloaded the alleged utorrent client from the wrong places.

I've been using Bittorrent and it's been stable and easy to use.

+1 to uTorrent, wouldn't use anything else (just hogs memory and is often unnecessarily complicated), and no I've never nor would I ever install an Ask toolbar or anything of the sort.

My favourite feature is the ability to relocate the files in any torrent to wherever you've decided to put them, you can even change their names and uTorrent will accept them.

I use Vuze. I am quite happy with it.
