Hi Everyone,

So I have spent the last two days going through the site. Its awesome and thanks for all the amazing feedback.

I word on Bay Street but am a pretty cheap guy - no mortgage at 35 (small house of course). I have been pretty negligent on the work clothes front.

I buy my dressshirts from maxwells because I have an odd shape. I FINALLY invested in some shoes and bought two sets of AE's on Monday (one walnut and one black) at Rego's as they were two for 600.

All of my suits are Boss Selection because I use to get invited to the Boss friends and family sale. I did get use to the Super 150's, I wont lie. I have lost about 50 lbs in the last 15 months and so I am in need of new suits. I had mine taken in already once but there is little more they can do given I have gone from a full 46 to 42. So now I am in the suit shopping business.

I have been going through every post on this site for two days and I am down to three brands (I think) - Canali, Zegna or Samuelsohn (but for MTM for S). I know the answer if money is no object, but I wanted anyone's opinion on whether there is really a marked difference for the price or whether its more brand related. Meaning, are you getting the extra bang for your buck. And where is the place to go - I see most say HR, but the comments suggest they are really pricey vs. others.

I know there is a great senior member from Toronto who is all Samuelsohn and he has me almost convinced.

Finally, I am going to Palm Springs in a few weeks (and Vegas in June) so I will likely hit the premium outlets to see if I can find some deals, but I was wondering if anyone had an thoughts before I left?

Sorry for the long ramble, but I am honestly totally not the fashion guy (I wish I was as I am so jealous when I see guys dressed really well) so any help for this peasant would be great as restarting a whole suit collection is going to be cheap!

Thanks

Jamie

I like my Samuelsohn suits every bit as much as my Canali and Zega - if not more - particularly the MTM suits. All three will be a significant step up over your Boss suits.

Take a drive out to the Harry Rosen outlet in Missisauga - you can often find Sammy suits on sale in the $500 range at that is a pretty unbeatable value as they offer solid value for money at full retail.

Also try Tom's Place in Kensington Market for Corneliani and D'Avenza. They also have a few Zegna.

Thanks Roger P. I will do all of those things. I will probably hold off until after Palm Springs as I go in 7 days.
