I was going to ask you about those guys. They seemed like hipsters of the culinary world. Pretentious and douchebag all in one smarmy package.

Still don't find any of these people interesting and there are no cute chicks to leaven things a bit, I dunno, my Top Chef phase may be nearly over.

I started rewatching season three yesterday for just that reason. Although iirc, mantons major top chef crush was on the blonde from the voltaggio/cyrus finale season. She is hot in person. On camera I wasnt that in love.
And this season could be good. The moto guys are interesting cooks, but douchers. Terrebrune and the chilam bilaam guy are good cooks but I think their cooking is too niche to win top chef. He only does mexican and she only does rich southern food. Im interested in seeing the black giy from north carolina and the asian guy from louisville cook. Oh and the spiaggia chef will be fun to watch

Hang on here: are the cooks from Texas, or is the show being filmed in Texas?

(I'd visit the Bravo site, but our office blocks games, TV, etc. )

Nyisha Arrington looked pretty focused. She might have a chance of going far.

I'm actually pretty excited about the talent in the top 16.

Looking back, I think the purpose of the elimination of half the field in the first two episodes is to reduce the likelihood of hacks/dead weight making it in. In past seasons there have been some non-desirable chefs that have gone far past their time.

Really interested in the large black gentleman (god, that beard is epic) and the deliberate speaking Asian man.

Izard's Girl and the Goat is doing gangbusters last I checked, booked months in advance. I wouldn't call it Top Chef calibre haute cuisine, but the food is good. She's opening up a second restaurant soon. I think winning Top Chef made a lot of this possible with respect to raising her profile.

Kind of meh about the start of the current season, but I feel that way about the beginning of every season until the contestants' true personalities come out, so I'm going to keep watching. Also, Padma.

I agree that it's probably the most disappointing season in terms of the hotties. I think even the most recent Top Chef: Just Desserts beats them on that front :(

That weirdo breaking down in what, episode 2 or 3, of the first season did that show in for me. I couldn't stand it...

This season's TCJD was much mellower, and the average skill level seemed much higher.
