Had no idea the next season was going to be in New Orleans. Very cool.

Contestants seem really boring this year. So far I'm pulling for the Mexican Chef from Chicago with the Michelin star.

I'm appreciating the LACK of faux drama so far.

Seems like a good season to me, with quality contestants. That Galatoire's dude is creepy and annoying, though. OTOH, as a Philly resident, I'm glad the local douche was dispatched this week.

Sad to see the Australian blonde chick (Janine) leave. She was hot.

Another sign of SF's decline: this thread is dead.

Only seen Ep3 but it doesn't seem as stupid as the other season I saw. I watched some of Top Chef Masters and I thoroughly enjoyed that more than this. Partly because its hilarious seeing Bravo trying to create drama out of a bunch of professionals who really like and respect each other.

Eh, I think that the Masters vs. the regular competition just have different vibes. I like watching pros who are established or even very successful compete just to prove that they can win. Might not be the same excitement level as journeymen chefs who are really trying to break through, but it's still satisfying. (Of course, both series have had terrible off seasons.)

Nina from St Lucia is CRUSHING it. Some of those other chefs sound like they could really use the prize money because if I recall, her father was some high ranking politician in St Lucia or something.

Still, Janine is killing it in Last Chance Kitchen which is a plus.

That was one of the most boring Restaurant Wars episodes in recent memory. Glad that annoying Sarah got booted off, though.

I really disliked her and that she was from the Twin Cities....

What I think makes this season remarkable (if not absolutely unique): the people remaining are so likable. They've booted off all the annoying people. Travis was okay--if he was annoying at times, it's only because he's so young. Was actually sad that he got sent home. And Justin has proven surprisingly surly when he seemed like a cool dude at the beginning of the season. But otherwise, I'm kind of rooting for everyone. No Hoseas this season.

That being said, I'm totally rooting for Carlos Gaytan. Dude is cool and there's just no denying the mind-blowing deliciousness of real Mexican food.

His story is pretty incredible too. Totally rooting for him to win it.

I wouldn't complain if Shirley took the crown either.

Might have to try out his Mexique place when I'm in Chicago in January.
