I have a day in NY this weekend. What are the top five premium denim stores worth hitting? I will only be in Manhattan, so nothing outside will be an option. I will also be hitting the big dept. stores like Barneys, Saks, and Bergdorf.

You'll get at least the recommendations of Blue in Green and Nom De Guerre.

You also have Oak, Famous Friends, 45RPM, Steven Alan.. etc.

Just denim? Barneys should have acne, nudie, apc, es, and some others. BiG, 45RPM are definite musts. Oak, Famous Friends, NDG will have some more jeans. All those stores(including BiG) have really cool clothes too. 45RPM makes me want to sell drugs to earn some cash. ******* expensive, but awesome looking clothes on top of the already stellar jeans.

I assumed, perhaps erroneously, that since he requested stores in S&D, he wanted shops in the same vein.

Denim wise, I don't think there's much in NYC that you can't get in LA, with the exceptions of BiG and 45rpm.

Odin seconded...the Lafayette St. store currently has one of the more impressive collection of labels I've seen...

Jean Shop is a good, even if they only stock Jean Shop jeans. They have 3 or 4 cuts for men, and it's a cool store to browse as well.

Just shop Barney's then get your arse in a cab and head Downtown, I wouldn't waste your day at all 3 dept stores. 1. Barney's East side. 2. West 14th. Jean Shop & Jeffrey. 3. Soho, Lafayette St and vicinity.

Yeah, I'm pretty much saying that those are the only 2 that he needs to go to.
