This is a good topic. Most of my favourites have been mentioned, but i want to bring up Bicycle Thieves again. The unresolved endings of Italian Neorealism always do it for me. Particularly Umberto D., which remains one of the most moving films i have ever seen.

Also, for the novelty of it, i'll throw in Irreversible. The way the park scene at the end contrasts with the tone of the film up until that point is truly jarring. Also that sunlight/strobe thing at the end literally almost made me throw up the first time i saw it.

Caught this on the weekend. Ben Vereen, Roy Scheider, Jessica Lange and Fosse Fosse Fosse. I had forgotten how great this ending is.
