I was the OP, but did not get into whether or not I liked the Milk & Honey bar. I think that if people have a problem, there are plenty of other places you can go have a drink with all the B&T that makes many places unbearable. I think of it as more of a private club, like the Core Club or even Rao's. People don't go to Rao's for the food, they go for the exclusivity, rules and tradition.

If it were the only bar in town, the rules would be pretty harsh. I wouldn't want it to be the only bar I frequented, but it's still nice for a certain kind of evening.

Anyway, I'll let you all get back to it, but I'd appreciate the favor of a little decorum wrt my friend.

I have been to a bar like this. It was one of my better experiences.

But would you also want to take on this guy's hours and grind? That's the question...

I would let dudes grind their nuts on my face for several hours* for that kind of money.

happen to be wearing my first MTM DB suit today (light grey w/ white or silver pinstripes, yellow paisley tie and CJ Polo Shoes (light British tan)) - I have gotten so many damn compliments from all of the women here at work. Granted, it is a law dept. but still . . . .

Those white dialed Submariners are really cool. I think you can only get them on Canal St. Ditto the half blue bezel Subs.
I was thinking the same thing.

When I worked on Wall Street-Late 80s and Early 90s, there was a culture of not being too flashy but dressing well. Unfortunately the end result was a GroupThink of what exactly to wear that looked neither good nor individualized.

I sometimes think I'm glad I got out with a sense of style.

Yeah but he lives in NYC, so on a cost-adjusted basis he's probably saving only $5K a year.

I love how he calls Thomas Pink and Charles Trywhitt the "British brands".

I bet he has a current-model Porsche stowed away somewhere for the weekends.

I took a date to Milk and Honey in London once, had a great time - the drinks were excellent and the experience of going through the backstreets of Soho trying to find the place was fun in itself.

Liked that it was quiet enough to have a proper conversation with my companion and there was plenty of space even on a Friday night due to the table reservation system/hard to find secret number.

Cocktails were very well done, freshly squeezed juices and well mixed with premium spirits. It was mainly set up as a members bar, with non-member guests only allowed in the first room. Not sure if it's the same in the New York sibling.

It's not a pick-up bar, but then there's plenty of those around in Soho if you want 'em. Fantastic place to take a date though and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

As far as the IB in question, I think Tools of the Trade is a good title.
