Too Light to Wear with Navy/Charcoal Suits

I’m looking at the Tricker’s Belgrave. I love this color but worry it wouldn’t pair as well with dark trousers and suits as a dark brown or black shoe. I’m a lawyer who spends quite a bit of time in court. Thoughts?

Love the color as well, but would not wear to court. Much better look with jeans or casual attire.

I have to agree. I love the styling. I’m going to get them in black and espresso, I think.

Works fine with light grey but definitely not dark blue or grey

Found these Sargents on EBay. They still strike me as being too light to go with dark suits. Thoughts? Thanks, guys.

The Trickers won't be a good look, whether in court or elsewhere. The Grensons could work, depending on how dark the suit is. A grey like this should be fine with the Grensons:

Brown shoes are tricky to match with navy and grey, colour temperature wise that is. You ideally need a cold dark brown.
If you already have a pair of black cap toe oxfords, my advice would be to get another pair.

The trickers would be ok with a light gray suit- not navy or charcoal. They would be good as a shoe for summer suits- you could also wear them with tan or a light blue.

the sargents would be ok with mid gray, not navy or charcoal. A mid brown lace up shoe is very useful just not with the very darkest colors. Basically everything but those though

if you’re only wearing deep navy and charcoal your best bet is black shoes. If you already have black shoes and want to branch out look for VERY dark brown. This shade is actually somewhat hard to find though so you have to be careful. With charcoal especially there are very few brown shoes that look ok.

I have seen it called “black brown” before. A very dark brown is quite nice.

I’ve seen that cherry color paired with charcoal suits and it isn’t optimal.

The tan shoes might work with a medium/light blue suit but not navy.

Thanks guys. I have a pair of dark brown C&J Audleys that I think work with navy and charcoal. I’ve got 2 black captoes but might add a perf captoe.

I know some find it odd but I really like black wingtips

I think the black subdues the broguing and while retaining some visual interest

I feel the same way about black tassel loafers- the black subdues them somewhat which to me increases the appeal

Also I’d consider a black austerity brogue if I was heading in that overall direction
