Anyone familiar with this tailor? I need some work done on a suit including surgeon cuffs and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with them. The other tailor I'm considering is Bill Cairo in San Marino. Thanks.

I live in LA and I personally would only take my suits to rudy's tailoring. They do buttonholes on suits by hand and they are amazing. A small little place with three people working and all suits are either Kiton, Attolini and brioni. Everyone takes their suits there. I recommend you go there. Its in sunset plaza and the number is 323-253-6747. Trust me on this.

How is he compared to Charles Tailoring in BH?

I've used Rudy and Charles and there's no comparison. Rudy is a nice guy and competent for basic stuff and he's not expensive, but he really isn't a true tailor. Charles fixed two suits that I initially had Rudy do - he did extensive alterations, completely reworking the shoulders in one suit, and really made the jackets fit perfectly. Charles is very expensive though, so I stopped using him, though I'd go back if I had a very tricky job. He also tends to be a little hard to communicate with and he tends to impose his own style on you. He also does bespoke work.

I use Paul at Wilshire Tailor now. He's much better than Rudy and cheaper than Charles. He also does very good work, though I think he's been a little off on a few alterations for me. On the other hand, he'll happily re-do anything you're not happy with and he's a great guy. He's also easy to work with and he'll do things like no-break pants or shortening a jacket that other tailors tend to resist if it's outside their typical style.

I know about Charles and Paul, but they're on the west side of town. I'm on the opposite side of the county (Diamond Bar). If possible, I'd like to stay east of L.A. My usual tailor does good work, but he doesn't do surgeon cuffs.

I havent used Charles Tailoring but Rudy's has been beyond amazing in their work. His button holes (surgeons cuffs) are really nice and as I stated, hand done. No machines. They are worth a call. Like Baron said, he i a really really nice guy. Tell him Khaled sent you.

Carlos Mendoza at the old Andover Shop-which is now a "stitch in time." Park in the rear, Carlos is in the rear of the shop. Carlos has done a number of suits, alterations and functional cuffs for-yes, he does them by hand, as he doesn't have a machine for the process. He is quick and his price is not near as expensive as the west side. Carlos is not as good as Charles in Bev. Hills, and does not do bespoke anymore, as he is just too damned busy. He is the only one who I have experience with on the eastside, who I could recommend. Carlos' phone number is 626-577-1171.
