Tone blind, charcoal jacket w/ black denim?

I bought a new jacket that is described as "blue/charcoal." Unfortunately, the blue doesn't show in the photo, but you can at least see the tonality. I'll try and include the merchant's photo for comparison.

This jacket will probably go well with light tan pants. As I have trouble with matching some of the darker tones, I'm wondering if black will go decently. I'd like the option of wearing a black shirt.

Does the black shirt work as well as the blue? Any issues with the jacket?
