At least here in downtown NYC.

Chubby trendster, style icon Mario Batali, footwear of choice: Crocs.
Skinny trendster, style icon anyone who doesn't wash their hair, footwear of choice: Tom's.

No?

No.

Replace Tom's with Sketchers Shape Ups and you could be onto something.

Ah, thanks. I like them. And I like the charity idea. I think I'll get a pair.

I bought a pair last fall on a whim. I have yet to wear them a single time. Perhaps I'll try them out this weekend.

I think the Tom's are sort of delicate-looking. I could see wearing them as a to/from the swimming pool shoe but not for much else. Even the faux sneakers look very thin and (much) more for looks than for comfort.

They're incredibly over-priced. I've gotten nicer shoes at H&M for $9. Also, the whole donating shoes concept is stupid. It's not like people evolved to wear shoes, people all over the world choose to walk barefoot. Also, if you were incredibly poor and malnourished, and it takes an extreme act of charity for you to get what may be the only pair of shoes you'll ever own, wouldn't you want something a little more durable than Tom's?

These are cooler than Tom's: http://www.statusfoe.com/node/103

"Zig Zag Shoe (sic) are for the renaissance man. For the style sophisticate on a low budget. These are the classic shoes that the winos wore. Grap a few pairs at this cheap price."
