We lost our entire Tom James Crockett & Jones thread! For those of you who have the rebranded C&J Tom James shoes, what last were the black semi-brogues that were equal to handgrades made on? 330? 337?

Alan, you have a pair, right? I remember that these were very slim, and am trying to work out my sizing on another C&J pair. Thanks!

Do you mean the Barton? I believe the same shoe is called the Berkeley at Tom Silver and the old C&J catalogue. I don't think C&J offers them in their newer catalogues. They were on the 330 last. Not as elongated as the 337.

All the Tom James "handgrade" shoes were actually made on the 330 last Chorse. I got the semi-brogues in black and brown, and the grained derby Dover-like shoe.

    Definitely the 330. I own a pair.

Thanks, guys. Am I correct that the 330 is a tighter fit than the 337?

Definitely Chorse. For me, the 330 fits 1/2 size smaller than the 337.

Yes, definitely a tighter fit. I find my Tom James to fit length-wise, but the tightness is in the width, for me. Definitely a narrower last.

I see my shoe compatriots were quicker on the trigger than I.

I also have a pair of the full brogue burgundy benchgrade line CJ/Tom James. They are size 9 like my Bartons, but the benchgrade last certainly makes the fit looser. I've still not worn them out. I haven't decided whether the fit is good enough or not. Ironically, I feared the Bartons were too tight when I got them, but they've loosened up nicely.

I fit into a UK 9 (Weymount 337) but the CJ handgrades in size 10 (330 last) were too tight. I normally take a US 10.5. You said the Bartons opened up. What is your normal US size.

BTW, the benchgrade 10.5 from TJ were too big. Should have ordered the benchgrade in 10.

Most of my shoes are 9 US (AE's, Bennie's Grensons, etc.). The Bartons very definitely opened up.

The Tom James 330s actually seem tighter than regular 330s for some inexplicable reason. Just an FYI.

Interested in selling the benchgrade TJs? If so, what color and style are they?

    Thanks

Pulling this one from way back—

Just picked up a pair of C&J for Tom James Malverns in brown suede—and they are beautiful, but that's not what I'm here for. Since the Tom James are apparently lasted differently than the standard C&J products, anyone got a clue what last the TJ Malvern (aka the Laxton, under TJ's branding) is on? Just trying to get a feel for other C&J shoes, should I decide to plop money down for them...

    The inside of the shoe says "9288 29X 10 E 043977".

Are these new? I don't see any C&J on their website.

What would be the similar model from CJ? Is the 'E' equivalent to the American 'D' size? Thanks for your reply

I remember when TJ closed these out for some reason - it was a free for all at $150 for a pair of C&J Handgrades. That's a good deal.

I picked up two pairs of Barton's at the time on the 330 last. I'm not sure if the sizing holds true across models, but the Barton was a small shoe. I picked up a 10 and could have gotten a 10.5 and I think a lot people felt the same way. But again, I'm just not sure that holds true across models or if it was just an issue with the Barton (semi-brogue handgrade model).
