The coat seems entirely too long for me. Definitely open to suggestions. It typically fits very well when buttoned:

I've lost a little weight in the gut! ;)

But I think this TF jacket is too long, people keep saying that the jackets run long... But I would like to know where the jacket **** hit my hand. Any advice here?

It looks VERY long in the first flick. You say it fits well when buttoned....How else is a tux/jacket supposed to be worn?

To give a good idea of fit, you should take the picture directly facing the camera and one from the side. Keep hands out of pockets and down at your side. These pictures don't show clearly, but the jacket does appear to be too long.

Think full-body mug shots (minus the head, if shy ;)).

More than too long, the first pic makes the jacket look way too big, but I think that's mostly the effect of the vents flaring out a bit (not to reopen the vents vs. no vents on a tuxedo debate...). From that angle the jacket looks much larger than the trousers.

If you've lost weight, the first thing to do would be to have the jacket taken in a bit, then see where things stand. After that, if you still think it's too long, you can have the body shortened. A good tailor can probably take up to an inch off without ruining the proportions but make sure you take it somewhere good (or go where you bought it/a TF boutique where they can replace it if they mess up).

I personally like the bottom of my jacket to hit my hand at the first knuckle (where the fingers meet the hand). Others prefer a bit longer or a bit shorter. The outer limits, in my opinion, are no longer than the second knuckle and no shorter than where the thumb meets the hand. You should also make sure that the back offers complete butt coverage.

The pics also make it difficult to tell how tall you are. I find that a shorter guy looks a bit taller when wearing a slightly shorter jacket, as it appears to elongate the legs. I'm long in the legs, so a slightly longer length gives me balance and keeps me from appearing all leg.

This tuxedo is undoubtedly good, but unfortunately not looking as dapper as i was expecting after reading a title. The fit of the suit also look like an any ordinary suit!

What would you expect from RTW?

If you are buying off the shelf you only are going to get better than average fit if you just happen to be the shape that the designer/ manufacturer is aiming at. Tom Ford, like many fashion designers, are going to be looking at those that are "slim fit" or athletic in shape. I and the OP are not slim fit people and so to even get a fit like an "ordinary suit" is probably a good thing.

To the OP - as others have said, the images arent appropriate for judging fit, though its always hard to really judge fit from any photos. That said, the first picture makes it look far too long
