Anyone know if Tom Ford sunglasses have nickel in them? I am referring to the metal frames obviously, the Hunter aviators specifically. I believe I have a nickel allergy from some cheap sunglasses I used to have.

Also, how about quality? Marcolin makes them, but they also make Kenneth Cole, etc. so I don't know if they are worth the price tag, even on discount.

You'll probably be best helped by asking someone at Tom Ford. I doubt anyone here knows if there's nickel in sunglass frames.

If they're made by the same people that make Kenneth Cole, I doubt they're very good quality. Most designer sunglasses are made to drive up quick and easy sales with the exception of those designers that make sunglasses first and foremost or use other sunglass makers (Persol, Oliver Peoples, Mosley Tribes, Paul Smith, etc.)

I doubt there is any nickel in the metal.

Though Marcolin makes Kenneth Cole and Tom Ford, the qulality is completly different. All the major sunglass companies (Luxottica, Safilo, etc) make high quliaty lines and low quality lines.

But are the lines all made in the same facilities?

Like absolutely everything with Tom Ford, you're paying for the name and the style - not necessarily the underlying quality behind it.

If you like how the glasses look and you can afford them, then they're worth it. I'm sure that the lenses and frames are crafted well enough.

I have a pair of the TF John. I love the the style but the quality is only so, so. To be honest they feel sort of cheap and not very well constructed.

OP glasses are tops in my book.

Anybody for Fabien Baron eyewear? I can't find any pics on the web really.

yeah, I tried on some in Solistice (?_) and they felt a little plasticy or something. I would love to find something similar to the Hunter model TF, only cheaper and/or a more solid construction.. maybe these ?? http://www.tobi.com/product/20684-mo...color_id=24957

Nickel shouldnt be in anything worn next to the body. I would highly doubt if the license-ie would be that stupid.

If you get reactions from certain metals, try looking into frames with plastic temples OR titanium! Most people dont have reactions to titanium. Also people that sweat a lot tend to make the normal stainless steel or other metals rust...
