Told Tramezza can only be re-soled twice?

So I have a couple pairs of Tramezza’s which I’ve had for quite a while, they needed a re-sole so off they went to the shop and then to the factory in Italy.
I’ve been told that because they’ve already been re-soled twice the factory are not able to do it again, citing the triple layer construction, something about being old and not having the materials, and what sounded like other excuses. However they could be sent to the local cobbler up the road who could re sole them?
Sadly one of the things I love about Tramezza shoes are the soles, how they look and that little metal plate on the bottom - all of which I’m told would be lost on an aftermarket re sole.

Can anybody shed light on this, I’m not really buying the ‘we can only re-sole twice’, and particularly irked that shoes costing upwards of £1000 have such a limited factory lifespan for genuine re soles, however any old local cobbler could easily do it. It’s something I might have expected for cheaper less well made shoes, but something in this range should really have more re-soles than the wearers lifespan.

I’ve asked for contact details for SF customer service in Italy, but thought I’d seek some of the expert knowledge on here so I can at least appear to know what I’m talking about when I email them.
Thanks in advance

Tramezza are basically Goodyear welted, and while Goodyear welted shoes cannot be recrafted indefinitely, they should be good for more than two.

My guess is that after doing it twice, they don’t want the responsibility of a more complicated recrafting, such as replacing the welt. Though I can’t imagine why that would make it more complicated.

question, are these synthetic soled shoes or leather?

My understanding was if the re-sole was carried out carefully, then they should be good for many re-soles before more complex refurbishment was required?

No full leather sole each time, does a synthetic sole make it easier/harder?

Appreciate the quick reply

You’re welcome.

I’m not sure why they told you that. The shoes should be able to be recrafted without issue. Even if it means they have to replace the welt. Maybe SF considers that too much of a complication.

If a Vibram sole was used, the old sole is removed and the new one applied without actually needing to recraft the shoe.
