1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

My closet is full of expensive sneakers that look like Chucks or Vans, and boots that are chukka variants.

Any idea on when the sample sale will go down? Should I just watch this thread super close or something?

Haven't been around long enough to see a ToJ SS

Yes. I just wanted to put them up when there would be more official looking photos of each VTG model(like on a hanger against a white background like the other tojs) so that I could use them for the thumbnails on the main page and the website. But if people really want the galleries up(click thumbs up on this post to confirm), I can do that.

If it's to be sneakers... I always find Margiela to be over designed. Chuck All Stars have that over the top star; Varvatos goes in the right direction but he always heads off into Uncontrol land... which isn't what I think of as main line ToJ.

Black leather high top Jack Purcells would be my vote on where to start.

dude, that medium whisky was limited to the 4 or 5 jackets that could made from it - the rolls weren't that big. 'LImited' wasn't supposed to make you jump, it was supposed to signal that there was seriously only a few jackets wroth of each of those available. There's an olive green (seen a few pages back) that is as good as the medium whisky good for maybe 2 more jackets, and a dark bottle green that is better than both, possibly the best leather we've ever had bar none, and good for maybe 3 or 4 jackets. We have those, the graphite grey, navy blue, and pebbled tan in limited (as in or 2 left) quantity, all in Italian calf.... all will be done soon.

Thanks, I feel like I've learned something today. Given, it's about the history of expensive sneakers, but it's something nonetheless.
Out of curiosity, which jacket model do you think would work best with the dark bottle green?

I believe it's Italian calf. 2010 DR or QDR, maybe? Or does the QDR not work with calf?

For the dark green Italian calf, I'd say you want either a Moto, a DR of sorts, or the QDR. A Bomber would only look good in A-2 style, not come with shearling, and be something we'd have to beg for to be made, since the guy is pretty adamant about not working with calf. We pissed him off with a bunch of horsehide I think, lol. The calf is a bit softer, but still quite thick.

Somebody do a collared moto in pebbled tan. Or perhaps bottle green.

It turns out that my entire education was useless to me, and that all of the seemingly useless trivia and knowledge about clothes that I picked up over the years actually counted for something in the end above all of that. This kind of knowledge, though, is worth millions to the right people, it's a matter of research and feeling it. :slayer:
