Let's be real though, do you guys honestly plan to wear the same pair of shoes out on a sunny day (which are trivial), for a whole year? No. So if you wear it in a cycle of shoes like the rest of us, you'd likely see the results of the 365 days of tanning, in like...3 years?

I personally don't have the patience for that.

If you made a veggie tanned chukka on a crepe sole, and made is sufficiently chunky (my jeans have always been slouchier than the recent Styleforum norm), I'd wear the shit out of those. They would be essentially coffee cured by the end of a month, I'm sure. have never been able to get aboard with leather soled shoes worn with jeans.

You have to consider the TOJ team. Footwear is a whole different game.

The VTG is an advanced jacket, and it would be awkward to have just that as footwear.

Classic and timeless footwear equivalents to the A2, the Moto and the DR would be great.

I'm thinking a work boot, a dressier boot or chukka, and sidezips.

Let's just hope that the TOJ footwear will not reflect what is currently seen on the feet of Japanese dudes in Tokyo/Osaka, etc... I just spent the last 10 days being horrified every time I looked at any relatively stylish guy's feet. Ultra-elongated lasts, often pointy, tacky details/hardware.

I never really got the appeal of those Blackbird veg tanned derbies. Seemed like all hype from the raw denim culture mindset.

On another note, are there any colored calf skins available still? :embar:

They've just gone way deeper into amekaji than we ever will. Super clunky workwear shoes are the worst of that imo.

While I totally agree with you, I also think there's a lot of bullshit being produced under the auspices of Americana. Sure, people actually are paying a lot more attention to craftsmanship and construction, but there's also a lot of crap that flies under the banner of AMERICA! and HERITAGE! — although these are things most likely to be copped not by an SFer but rather your average Urban Outfitters customer.

First two posts on this page are on point.

Service boot would be a must cop.
