Gonna have to disagree on that. That narrow leg opening + comparatively large size gats makes his feet look like loaves of bread sticking out. The bomber looks great though.

Sup with Drew editing out most of his Dayton comments and replacing with a wry emoticon? Something's up!

This is depressing. =( Manchego is wearing a dead man's jacket. =(

I can't live on my iPhone, I'd go cross eyed. It's good for snapshots (half are food, and half are text or little memo things I use to jog my memory at this point) and then I use facebook on it, so I can talk about myself and then look at myself talking about myself. Oh yeah, and text messenging. Everything else happens on my MBP - the emails and large messages, and then my professional messageboarding/troll-fighting.

This may seem to you as being too fast of a reply after receiving my jacket...
    Well, it's not(I think).
I have worked with natural materials(bone, wood, leather) for more than 20yrs now.
This is an awesome material, but I decided to run some tests with it (and the good peole of TOJ were kind enough to send me some scraps with the jacket).
Oil is OK, but will darken the leather A LOT!
Of the oils I quickly tested, mink oil is the most softening one and will give most uniform results.
But, Drew has a point here. Applying oil to this leather in its virgin form is prolly not a very good idea.
This leather will shed a bit of itself(unlike most leathers usually used for jackets), so, I suggest taking the body lotion route to begin with, and after letting that sink in for an hour or two, brush the jacket with a fairly sfiff brush and rub it well with you palms after that.
I used a lotion that is highly moisturizing with low oil/fat content.
This gets much of the squeakiness out and will prepare the leather for later appllications of whatever it might be that you wish to put it.

This colour is rather unique, so I'm in no hurry to darken this ASAP.

Very preliminary results, but the fact is that leather acts very fast to all treatments applied.

    My EUR0,02.

good advice, and i agree - prime the surface as per Mikko's advice. It's similar to what i did. take it slow with the VTG's, you have the rest of your lives with them. They are a zen project.

i also pretty much focused on getting the sleeves to be flexible at first. color is second to function...

Hm. What would you say to a VTG that smelled like "Coconut Orchid Passion?"

Also, 18" of snow on my street. No TOJ today :(

I wish Drew would bring back the Chesterfield. I think my upper arms are too big to jive with a lot of designer outerwear.

I'll probably just go put Street Spirit by Radiohead on repeat and fade into the ether.

I do not see this as an issue, or maybe you made mine a tad more generous...or then the lotion did the trick.
It would be the squeaky sounds that would make me pissed off in every day life.
