This is a really terrible feeling, and one that I've come to share - my jacket was always tight, and it's only getting tighter. I have this nightmare about having to sell it and reorder...

So I'm pretty torn over what jacket to order. I was leaning towards the VTG CM or possibly the MDR. are there any styles which tends to work better on people with bulkier upper bodies? I have broad shoulders and thick arms and a smaller waist. I realize this isn't the most stylish body type..so I'm not sure what might work. Obviously some(most) styles will look better on slim people, so I'm just looking for suggestions right now

would not get a VTG for first jacket, or even third jacket... i say go with a black calf Moto and start from there.

Real talk: we just moved to Tokyo to eat. Mrs TOJ even has a job at a patissier... it's getting serious. My weight is on a rollercoaster now.

THanks for the quick reply. Could you clarify on why you wouldn't recommend the VTG?

I am thinking too much things to be done in the wearer's part b/c of the characteristics of veg. tanned leather. Also the color might throw some people (more like everyone - denim ninjas @ SUFU) off.
I personally would like a pair, after I get good at painting on leather. All I can do now is not fuck up so its not going to be anytime soon :embar:

It's not about user involvement, it's that it's really, really stiff and uncomfortable at first, and you need to really want it. It's a certain look. It will look cool as hell all beat up, but it won't be happening anytime soon. It's like buying 23oz black denim if what you really want are just a pair of APCs that will be faded in 6 months.

I guess it's a personal thing but I love the break-in process with these types of things. I think I might actually prefer the raw natural color over a darker brown. I'm definitely not afraid of a stuff jacket :p It was love at first sight when I saw that fit pic of you..both the color and the fit. I really want to buy one before its discontinued, my only concern is I won't be able to achieve the right fit

    to achieve Ed Gein Steez

There was also a guy in SUFU who made shirts out of veg. tanned deer leather :uhoh:

lol. The VTG is not a jacket you want to worry about the fit on, if you do that you will end up sizing it too small. It will cut your arms off. Like I said, it's not for most people. If you want a nice fitting jacket, get a normal black or brown calf jacket or jump at the limited colors when they become available, because the supply of the colors other than black and brown are just overstock from big factories that I'm lucky to find. It's usually limited to only a handful's worth of jackets anyway.
