Playing around with Vashin's idea about "level up" and thought of:

    Level Set

    - ToJ is leveling the playing field by bringing good leather to the masses
    - "level" rolls off the tongue nicely imho
    - the level set method can be applied to optimization problems, and ToJ seem to be continually optimizing product
    - can also be read as ToJ has just set a new benchmark for quality, coolness, whatever - the level has now been set, other folks have to step up their game to compete

[IMG] Fair enough - I am pretty nerdy. I'll leave the name-making to other folks.

Symmetry is a great word though - Fearful Symmetry (Blake ref ties in with Korea), Broken Symmetries,...

I like the idea of allegorizing to a similarly organic/creative process, ie the use of musical terms or literary devices?

This sounds interesting. What are some good terms associated with the creative process?

    Synthesis, Genesis, ...

Sidebar: Man, I love playing with words.

I just like as a concept a name that allegorizes to a similarly creative process as this whole enterprise has been. A lot of what's been done has been inventive rather than formulaic. Actually using "genesis" as a name is hitting the nail on the head just like my earlier suggestion, not very subtle. Using a literary or musical device as a name is a nod to that quality. "Deceptive Cadence" is a suggestion along those lines - musical device that essentially sets up the listener for a familiar resolution so that you can sort of hear the momentum of the progression carrying you to a certain resolution and then does something different. Much in the same way that TOJ's designs are very traditional cuts with something updated or different about them, like the 2010DR straps, or the sleeve cut. Alternatively, if you want to nod to the religious undertones from the Temple, "Amen Cadence" is a device used a lot in religious music. As far as literary devices go, "In Medias Res" = a story is begun in the middle of the action, usually followed by flashbacks explaining how one got to that point. And it would just be a cool sounding name. "Metonymy" is putting one word (or something else) in the place of a similar word because of their similarity. Sort of evokes the notion of the "new double rider", a reinvention of old styles. "Stream of Consciousness" seems to pretty much sum up a lot about how this process has developed. There are dozens you could use if the concept makes sense.
