1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'm thinking about getting a Moto 2011. This will be my second jacket, my first one being the Minimalist Double Rider in black lamb. I was thinkign about getting calfskin for the Moto, also in black. Anybody else got opinions on this combination, in general?

What do you think about black zippers?

I think (just from looking at pictures online) calf works well with the moto.

I've never liked black zips on black, but it wouldn't look objectively bad if if it's what you want. It just eliminates contrast, I think.

Go black calf 4-zip moto with gold zips. You'd be ballin' out.

Suede harrington and baseball jacket are the two pieces I regret not picking up.

The lamb suede is amazingly soft... much more so than the other suede offerings. Just saying.

They're both great pieces, but having had both - the lamb suede one the harrington is waaay nicer than the calf suede on the bball.

I have a baseball jacket on the way. That suede Harrington is beautiful. Fishtail is the one I really want.

Don't know if this is kosher to ask, but since it's a discontinued model, I hope it's OK. If folks object, I can take this post down.

Does anyone know where I can get an MA-1 similar to the green ToJ anniversary edition? Charly confirmed that it indeed can't be made anymore, so I'm hoping to find something similar elsewhere.

Probably Real McCoy (or other repro types) or Lad Musician type brands for slimmer options.

This is so interesting. I've heard that individual leathers will vary (since, after all, variations in skin, etc.)--so it is interesting that you say the black and navy lambskins are better. What do you mean, though? Do they just feel more supple/luxurious?

It's too bad nobody seems to have ordered a toffee tan lambskin before...would've love some accounts of how that is. I'm sure it'll be terrific, given it's TOJ and all, but it's a long wait so stories from people who had it would be nice.

Black lamb is generally the best leather ToJ offers. Occasionally there will be special limited runs of calf that are also superlative, but on the whole black lamb is the best. If you've never owned a leather jacket before, you should get black lamb. If you're unsure of what to get for a rider type jacket, get black lamb.
