been fantasizing about a blacked out goat moto for 3 days

I've been staring at one as well. If you end up getting one, I may stop you on the street to look at it haha.

The wolverines are (in my opinion) more comfortable and require less break in. They also use CXL leather, which is a personal favorite.

1000 mile are a lightyear ahead in quality as well

The only problem (not a major one) is that the Wolverine 1000 Miles do not have much treads, and NYC sidewalks can get a little dangerous in the wintertime. Especially if you're running around catching buses or stealing cabs. Just kidding about the cab stealing...... or am i?

Pretty sure the iron rangers don't have real treads either....and you can always change that with a resole if you really care.

You should never wear leather soled shoes on ice or snow, you know what's going to happen. There are, however, 1000 miles without different soles, if you like the construction and style of the original with traction for winter.

Quick question to anyone who has a TOJ peacoat... I'm 6"1 and wondering if I should base it off of a S or M. I'm going for a slimmer fit.

Got my black lamb 4 zip moto today. Pics to come. Very satisfied. One interesting feature is that the leather feels significantly different than that on my black lamb collared moto. The CM feels thicker, heavier, and smoother. This one thinner, lighter, and softer. There is also a visible grain on the new moto leather, as well as a little veining in a few places; after significant wear of the CM including in wet conditions, I haven't seen a trace of either nor could I picture it developing given the feel of the leather. Overall, both are great in their own ways. I have a feeling that the gushing celebration of TOJ lamb's softness and luxuriousness (e.g. Synthese's "baby sheep cocks" description) is based on experience with the moto lamb.

So are you saying that you believe TOJ is using a "lesser" quality lamb skin for their new batch of orders?

im 6'1, bought a fishtail, ended up with a blend of med, large, and xl. height doesn't help get you a starting point. also look at charlie's "like" on your original post
