jcusey and others: There was a thread a bit back that discussed the quality of Cole Haan shoes. As part of that thread, I included a picture of a line of Cole Haan shoes they made back around 1999-2000 that were retailing at $550 and were claimed to be hand made. Here is a link to some pictures of those shoes: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....73&rd=1 (if this is someone's auction who is on the forum, I would like some feedback). I have seen these shoes recently at quite a substantial mark down and was wondering if anyone out there can comment on the true quality of these shoes. I've had a pair in the past and before selling them on eBay I looked them over and they seemed to be of high quality. Any comments on these?

Here are some other shots of the shoes, this particular pair in black: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I apologize for the rather large pictures and would welcome comments on how to post a smaller picture next time.

Just shrink them down in Photoshop before you post em, is all. I would think the best thing to do is get them hosted and then link to the large pictures, because seeing such a high resolution photo of the shoes helps tremendously in observing its quality.

I cannot speak about these shoes in particular, but I tired on a pair of Wales several weeks ago, which go for about $450. I wear an orthotic so I tried to see if I could get the pad out of the shoe. Underneath I saw it was made by Artioli, which is a very fine Italian shoemaker. I hope this helps.

It's been two or three years since I've seen a pair, and I'm a lot more shoe-savvy than I was then. Still, they're the best shoes that I've ever seen from Cole-Haan. They're quality shoes. I can't give you a real quality comparison with another brand, but they are good shoes.
