I seem to recall that Grant kept his bottom suit coat button buttoned throughout the film. Anyone else notice this?

i watched it the other day. there is really only one scene that i remember where he had all 3 buttons done up, that was the morning after the first heist that cary did for the insurance guy, and they're all in the hotel room talking about it.

then there's the swimming scene.

and then, after grant gets dressed, he walks back across the street to the hotel. here he has his jacket buttoned only with the middle button. (same suit as the morning scene, of course.)

i didn't catch the tux buttons either. so dark, it's hard to tell anyway.

ps - how come the search engine couldn't find this thread? i even used the misspelling 'theif'...

Superlative film.

Anybody know what kind of roadster GK is driving in the Grand Corniche scenes?

STYLESTUDENT--

Thanks for the reply--and the highly informative link.

An Alpine. I certainly should have known, since the first automobile I ever owned was a. . . Sunbeam Alpine. Not this model, more's the pity. Rather, the "streamlined," boxy little thing with fins--about as ugly as the earlier model was stylish.
