I have had shirts from almost all Jermyn Street shirtmakers. For reasons of cost and availability, I have settled on TM Lewin.

Generally I find their shirts absolutely fine as an everyday office work shirt - however, one thing really annoys me... the placket. After the first wash, it goes wrinkled and stays wrinkled. No matter how well I iron it, it remains wrinkled. Never smooth and sharp again.

Harvie & Hudson shirts, by contrast, are absolutely fine. The placket can be ironed smoothly and continues to remain smooth for the life of the shirt.

Does anyone know why this happens? Is it to do with the quality of the fabric or the way it is manufactured?

Try stretching the placket and seams etc. when the shirt is wet before hanging. It improves the situation, but this is an inherent problem with most Lewin shirts. Reckon it must be the tension on the stitching being too high.
