I am looking to purchase a Tissot Chronograph from a fine Jeweler here in Atlanta and wanted to
hear from those who own a Tissot.... Do you like the quality? Do you get comments on the style?
Let me know? Thanks in advance for the replies... :)

Tissot is a fairly old name in watchmaking, mid 19th century--

The name is now owned by the swatch group, who owns Omega, Longines, Tissot, Swatch, and a few others.

Generally, Tissot uses ETA movements and is an excellent value for the cost. I have somewhat limited experience with them, only having owned a PR200 chronograph as my mowing the lawn, running, etc beater watch. It has lasted about 12 years and is going strong.

I have one. It is a seasomething 1000. It is ok the band isn't quality at all and it is soon to go up for sale. It looks great though if that is all you go for.

I'm wearing a Tissot Seastar. It is about 11 years old now and quite nice to look at.

It is fully automatic and keeps excellent time. My father also uses a Tissot (forget which one) that I got for him in 1995. The clasp on the bracelt popped off earlier this year but that is the only problem with it.

I would say go ahead and get the watch, you won't regret it.

Comments appreciated from those who have posted so far. Other comments are welcome and are
well received. I have my eye on a Quadrato chronograph.

I have a Tissot Le Locle with roman numerals and I think its great as an inexpensive but dressy automatic. It keeps good time and I like the looks a lot. I'm not a huge fan of the fake alligator strap that it came with. The quality of the strap isn't bad but like most fake alligator straps it just isn't that nice looking.

Tissot makes a decent watch. It's like Omega's little, less expensive brother (as they're both owned by the Swatch group.) You can always bargain with the people at the store, expect to get 25-30% off if you bug them enough and offer to pay cash. It's hard to go wrong for a nice swiss watch at that price.

I believe that is what I have- a very nice watch for the price. It was part of an experiment with a low end Tissot and a high end Timex, roughly the same price and bought at the same time. I like them both, but I have to get the Timex repaired in the near future. Admittedly, it was a chronograph, so a lot more complicated then the very simple Tissot, but still it was the one that developed an issue. Just a data point.

I did replace the strap first thing, on both watches.

BTW, Needsshoehelp was selling an Hadley Roma alligator strap for a very nice price . I've had my eye on it, but if someone buys it the temptation will disappear.

I think they're a little like Allen Edmonds - a fair quality product for the price, if something that won't excite the "aficionados." You can check off a few boxes -- automatic, Swiss -- at a fraction of what the top makers charge, and it's better than some random watch with a designer's name slapped on it. I wear a Tissot. Frankly, while I'd like to have a much nicer watch, it would be imprudent for me to buy one.

Mine is fairly understated, a "Ballade" style they don't sell any more. I also have a Le Locle, but a while back my wife stole it. It's very oversized for her, but kind of cool.

Their heritage line is nice, as others have said they are a part of the swatch group and are more value oriented, a step below longines IMHO. Good solid watches at a fair price.

I would equate Longines or maybe even Omega to Allen Edmonds though if using a shoe reference.

If you're considering it for the Le Locle just be aware that it actually takes a 19mm strap (at least mine does). I had an 18mm strap on mine for a while and it doesn't look bad but when I bought a new strap (a Di-Modell alligator) I went with 19mm.

As an Omega owner, I'm offended.
