I bought some shoes and then polished them and waxed them and I wasn't happy with the final color. So I want to dye them black. Is there any particular guidance I should follow with this process? My default approach would be to just take the shoes to a local shoe repair shop who has done good work for me in the past. Are there maybe 1 or 2 vendors favored by forum members here who are unanimously trusted and consistently produce the best results for this type of job?

If you're not confident of doing it yourself, a good shop should be able to easily dye. I've dyed brown to black, but I've also stripped and redyed burgundy. It's not a terribly difficult process. The black makes it easy to avoid striping. Just strip off the wax with nail polish remover or Saphir renomat, paint, and condition/polish.

Ok sounds like if I get a good vibe from my local shoe repair shop then I should be able to trust them to do good work for this type of job. Thanks.

If you've got a good relationship start there. I've not found that here, so I repair heels, dye, etc myself.

This is the second time you have enquired about recolouring shoes in the past fortnight, would it be better to buy the shade you actually want in the first place?
