Tipping Your Tailor

Is it neccessary or correct to tip one's tailor. What about christmas?

I think there was a thread on this last year and the consensus was it isnt necessary to tip your tailor, but I do give mine a small Xmas gift as a 'thank you'

altho I have tipped mine if I request something as a rush service

No - you might tip a garbage collecor in the hope that he does not drop too much on your property next year but your tailor is a professional person just as much as your doctor or lawyer. They miss out!

I have been told that if the tailor is the owner of the shop then it would be rude to tip - he/she already gave you the price for service when you dropped off. If they wanted/needed more than they would have set the price higher. Good service is expected when you are dealing with the proprietor.

That being said, I do also plan to give my tailor a Xmas/holiday gift of some sort to thank him for excellent service throughout the year.
