Is their an advantage to showing your appreciation by tipping your tailor.
What is the etiquette and is this just an American tradition?

I can not imagine slipping a discretely folded Washington to my tailor during a handshake. Nor do I feel it necessary at 3-4K a suit. I also do not tip my doctor, broker, or other "professionals"
I have stood he and his cutter several rounds of drinks...

You tip your tailor? At some of the prices these tailors charge, they should be tipping you.
