Has anyone here been to Tip Top in Brooklyn? I was thinking about stopping by this weekend to pick up some wool for odd trousers. How big is the selection, and what do you think I can expect to spend per yard? It doesn't need to be top of the line stuff.

Hit or miss form what I've been told by the experts. There can be top notch stuff but don't go in with any expectations. Most swear by it, though.

Good selection, but poorly organized. If you're looking for a basic fabric, you're likely to find what you want. Other than that, you kinda' go in just to see what they have in stock. Sometimes they have something great and sometimes they don't have anything that looks interesting. The upside is that if you find anything good, the price is likely to be very good.

Yes, don't go in looking for a specific fabric. Just keep your eyes open. Some of the cloths are a steal at $40/yard.

I know this thread has not been visited recently but I was wondering if anyone has visited Tip Top lately.

This month I may have some time for fabric shopping in NYC and it would be nice if I could find nice suiting fabrics in 12-13oz or Woodhouse Fresco.
