Is there a better term for when the armpits are tighter on a suit? So that you can move freely in the suit without looking weird. I'm sure someone will understand what im getting at even though its poorly described.

Thanks.

Search for "high armholes" and you'll be sorting through a metric ton of results.

Anyone who wears high armholes and doesn't understand that he needs room for movement for the suit to look good is either an idiot or some dopey 18 year old.
Every time you raise your arms slightly the sleeves will pull up and the bottom of the jacket will pull up. You'll look like an idiot who is wearing his little brother's suit that doesn't fit.
End of story and that's all you need to know.

wrong. you gain more range of movement with a properly high armhole, especially when the jacket is buttoned.

Dasai had it right. High armholes is what you want.

Noggin and Alfamale have no clue.

Thank you guys.

So, how much am I looking to pay for a suit with high armholes? Both retail and here on sf.

Also, which brands are known for having these? (Not many sellers here on SF are pointing out "high armholes" in their sales. Maybe they just dont have it?)

Typically the more expensive, italian made suits have closer fitting armholes, like Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Zegna, Brioni, etc. Most American made suits have more generous armholes. You could also go MTM through Indochino or something.

High arm hole does not make your suit uglier. Having a arm hole that is too small will

Ok…

Seeing as Nogginn is an obvious troll / sockpuppet and Alfamale obviously didn’t bother to read the post but ragged on the OP based on the title alone, I don’t understand what you’re after. OP was looking for a term, which leads me to believe he’s in earnest and not a native speaker, so I think the thread is legitimate and deserves a proper response.
