Well, yes, but "nantucket reds" and "sorority girls" go together very well -- if formal means blazer and chinos, you're set. If everyone else is in a dark suit, perhaps not.

Seriously, wear a white shirt, and something light colored. Nantucket reds are for obnoxiously loud summer outfits. Bright colors, linen/cotton pastels, madras, seersucker... The world of obnoxious preppy ties is your oyster.
