1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I have a few Brioni and Italo Ferretti ties which I haven't worn yet. They're a bit long for me(I'm 5'8"), so I would like to have them shortened. TieCrafters(http://www.tiecrafters.com) offers cleaning, shortening, lengthening, widening, narrowing, retipping and relining services. Their charge for shortening is $12.50 per tie. I have eight ties which I would like shortened. @$12.50 per tie, that's $100 plus shipping. Fortunately I bought the ties on sale, but if they're too long they won't look good. If any of you have experience with TieCrafters, do they do a good(careful) job shortening and making various adjustments to the ties? Also, if I ever need a tie cleaned - do you know how they clean the ties? Do they use chemicals like those used by dry cleaners?

Thanks, Manton. I will call or email them to find out how the shortening is done. The balance factor was what I wondered about. If I choose to use them, I will definitely send only one initially, as I don't want to risk $100 and end up with eight odd ties.

Did you ever find out about the shortening? I'm interested too.

I haven't called them yet, but I may head into NYC next month, so I'll probably call them soon. I'll keep you posted, whatever the case.

Andy at Tiecrafters recently shortened two ties for my 13 year old son. I did not ask how he did the work, but they looked great.

He is very diligent about his work and will always be honest and upfront. He is making ties as well at very fair prices. Send him a yard of your favorite fabric and he will turn it into a tie of your choce of size and shape.
