There have been a lot of threads about ties recently. I am interested in what width tie you prefer.

Kent might be the "King of the 3" tie", but I am the facist dictator of the 3" tie

I like a slim, but not too slim, 3.25" tie, usually, but am hardly bound to the rule. I actually like really thick, sevenfolds too, tied half Windsor, with really slim suits with slim lapels, just for the visual constrast. Then again, when I wear suits and ties, it is strictly for dress up.

3.75 for me. Too skinny a tie looks ill-proportioned on me

Skinny ties, IMO, only look good on slighter guys. If your normal jacket size is (EU) 52 or higher, then a skinny tie is not going to work for you.

Whatever the stock width of Kiton's offerings is works for me. So do the slightly wider Brionis.

3 1/8" generally. +/- 1/8" depending on the tie pattern.

Hooray for being a slighter guy? I'm thinking of getting a tie in 2.5" from Baron Boutique and seeing how I like it.

Where do you all buy your slim ties? All of the ties I've seen are at least 3.5 or 3.75? I prefer 3.25" myself.

Prada makes 3". Also, I plan to order a few bespoke ties from Mulberrywood.

Depends on the situation really. I have around 6 patterned ties ranging from 3.5 to 3.75 for sartorial wear, and a black skinny tie from H&M made from polyester (gasp!) for casual wear.

Brooks make 2 7/8" ties. Prada make ties even slimmer than 3". I've seen 2.25". Also Dries Van Noten, ranging from 2 1/4" to 3 1/4", Dior Homme, which go real skinny. Band of Outsiders make 3". Marc Jacobs, LV, Hermes are generally 3.25". A lot of makers really, if you shop the hipper stores and designer labels. The construction is not best but the designs are often much better than you can find from more traditional tiemakers. You can also have ties altered for a small price at Tie Crafters.
