I am a slim fit build: 40R jacket with a 32W.
Before I buy another tie, I want to get the size nailed down.
As per Manton, I won't want anything too visually wide, b/c it cuts down on height. (I'm not tall)

I'd love to hear your take:

I'd say based on the pictures 3.25. Maybe 3.5 works as well, might want to try that.

3 1/4 and 3 3/4 both look fine--anything in that range is solid.

I'm with the others and agree that 3.25-3.75 will all look very good. I'm not a fan of skinny ties and I don't even own one. All of my ties are 3.5-4 and I'm a skinny guy too (38R, 150 lbs)

Also depends on the width of your jacket lapels. You will be wearing a jacket, won't you?

Don't worry. Wear what you like. I never wear anything narrower than
3.75 more or less unless it's a knit tie. I like wider ties. I am a 44R jacket.

I'm not too fond of ties wider than 3". That's just my personal preference though.

If you want to go with a slim and trim look, stick with the narrower ties.

And get that shirt taken in while you're at it, way too loose.

3.25. The others are too skinny and the 3.5 is too wide.

There are a number of variables to consider and your tie length is an important consideration.

So typically you should start by getting a correct tie length and then go from there.

2.5 looks the best to me. But that may be because of the color, which is more tasteful than the color of the wider ties.
