This is very simple. Do you prefer a tie space on your shirts and if so, how much?

I think no tie space looks a bit nerdy and contrived. The worst of all though is negative tie space, i.e. when there is a small overlap... horrid

I am the opposite. I don't like tie space, prefer a perfect inverted "V", and think a cutaway actually looks best with a tiny (1/16") overlap.

Space or no, the only look I really hate is when you can see collarband above the tie knot. That's just a poorly made shirt, or a guy who can't be bothered to pull his tie knot up into the collar properly.

The distance between the collar above the tie knot. 0 tie space has the collar touching.

No tie space is the most elegant to me.

No tie space. By creating an extra horizonal line, tie space gives a collar spread an over-complicated geometry. Tie space can also make it look like your collar is not properly buttoned.

Or, depending on how you look at it, a symmetry to the top and bottom of the knot.

I like tie space partly because it adds an extra horizontal element to my long and thin neck.

Don't you bring me into your Boy's Town Smackdown!

I like a little tie space, but I really don't care one way or the other. I am not all that picky.
