Tie & Pocket Square Combo packs

Many men's style outlets offer those two piece tie & matching pocket square combo packs. I won't even lie about it guys...I've bought a couple in the past. :/ But as I peruse the pages of the more popular men's style publications, I notice that some of the most well dressed (in my opinion) guys often have ties and squares that are of differing colors and/or patterns. Heck, sometimes some really styling outfits eschew the tie altogether and use only the square to lend that extra pizazz. So, are the combo packs a stylish and fashion forward convenience or are they tacky and groan inducing?

I was going to write something sarcastic but you seem earnest.

The tie - square are universally cringeworthy.

GQ isn't a great guide to dressing like a (well-dressed) adult male and even they eschew it as tacky.

I appreciate your withholding of sarcasm. Lol I will definitely avoid them in the future. What would you recommend in terms of proper tie and square combinations?

Spend some time here - search function is your friend. One of the leading lights here had a thread called SquareFail or something like that. Worth a look.

First order of business is to buy a plain white linen pocketsquare.

Enjoy that for a while then move on, if need be.

Pocket Square and Tie should not match. But they should fail to match in a pleasant and harmonious manner.

I will politely give you the SF snark answer....we suggest you spend some time here lurking, reading, contemplating, crying, laughing, learning...before you post. Before you post anything like this. :D

(written in good fun, but it is a response you'll see frequently around here, especially when there are entire threads dedicated to what you're asking about).

Just because a tie / square are sold in a set, it does not mean that the maker intended them to be worn together.

Brioni often market these sets and there are definitely no matchy-matchy outfits in their lookbooks.

Do a member search for SpooPoker.

Look at his tie/pocket square combinations.

This will give you an idea of how to do it right.
