With the understanding that not all monitors are created equal, by your best judgment, which of the Hober ties below seems like the closest match to this crimson reppe by Drakes of London? It looks like Hober #8 to me, but I'd like to put more (and better) eyes on the case.

Hober Reppe #6 (left) vs. Hober Reppe #8 (right)

#1 matches the shadows, #2 matches the highlights. Hope this helps.

#2 looks like a closer match.

Ok, since I've been prodded, #8.

I was going to say #8, but then I looked again. It's a tough call. I don't think I'd be satisfied unless I was holding all three.

It really is a tough call. I kind of want to just say the hell with it and order the Drakes, since that's the one I first fell in love with. But a Hober reppe is half the price, and if the quality of their reppes is anything like the quality of their grenadines, why pay so much more for only a slightly richer shade of red -- especially when that richness might just be an artifact of the photography?

Ugh! So many ties; so little disposable income.

If it isn't a matter of actually matching an existing piece, I would, personally, buy the Hober. But then, I can't bring myself to pay even that much for a tie. I only have a few that didn't come from Goodwill. Which should really make you question my judgement as it pertains to your problem!

You're full of shite, bromeister. I'm not saying I'm not anal, mind you -- just that you're only a couple of rows behind me in the group therapy sessions. Seriously, though, I thought you of all people would counsel me to suck it up and get the Drakes. It is, after all, a Drakes.

Order samples from Hober.

I have grenadine samples at my desk at work, which I caress lovingly and wait for my finances to recover to the point I can order ... one to start.
