Tie for professional photo / firm website?

In a couple weeks I have to get my picture taken for my firm's website and the choice of ties is stumping me. I was told to wear a dark suit, so I guess the seersucker idea is out. A solid navy suit it is. I wanted to stay away from a navy or red tie. I picked out four ties that I thought might work:

The colors are pretty accurate except that the silver Charvet tie has none of the yellow sheen that the incandescent lighting gives it in the photo. The light blue tie on the right is a linen/silk blend by Drakes, in case linen is out. Any thoughts or other colors I should go for? I thought green might be interesting with a blue shirt. I presume that a white shirt is the most appropriate, although I'm toying with a blue shirt. I'm trying to have a little personality and vibrancy show through, so that I don't look like just another litigator.

Hard to say since all of the colors are apparently showing up wrong, but the purple is definitely my favorite from what I see. I like that it's much darker than the others and will give nice contrast with your (I assume) white or light blue shirt.

It's only really the silver tie that has a problem with the lighting.

But you ARE just another litigator.

Unless you own the firm, then just play along.

Let your work standout, not your website picture.

Your firm is in which industry?
Describe the shirt you are considering wearing...

My son will be entering the financial world in a couple of years.
My advice to him would be to dress appropriately-to NOT stand out with a contrary style or loud ties-but to:
1. pay attention to details-cut and fit of suit, polished shoes, posture, etc.
2. set yourself apart with subtlety-interesting color combinations, pocket squares, textured ties, etc.

I'd say no to the light blue tie since it's linen. I think the purple tie would go fine with either a white or light blue shirt. I agree that a website photo is not a place you want to make a fashion statement. Keep it conservative.

Purple is definitely the best looking tie in that bunch.

I wore a bow tie for my firm's picture. I also wear it to all client events. I'm always remembered, the clients may laugh, but they do send work to the firm to "the bow tie guy". I'm a 4th year associate, so I figure it's good to be remembered.

That's actually a good idea.

Purple looks best in the photo. I wouldn't be shocked if it wasn't the best in person, but that doesn't matter, since you're choosing one to be photographed in.

I like wearing that purple tie with a blue shirt, would that be an okay choice?
